Why You Want Insurance

You don’t have to be an MBA to realize that few financial topics are more important  than individual insurance plans. Fine, you established a vast financial empire, but if you fail to hedge with adequate insurance you may find yourself dangling from a rope in a heartbeat. Now on the other hand, you might whittle your investment ROI by actually paying too much for insurance or, worse, paying for insurance you don’t need. That’s like chucking money down the chute!

I bet you’re musing now, “I don’t need insurance.” Ha! To that I say: “HA! Sure sure”.

If you have possessions beyond the shirt on your back, then it will be tough to replace them after a fire – if they’re not insured.

Or consider your health. You may be making $$$$ right now as Executive Vice President at MicroDollars Inc… but what if you get hit by a truck. Or get stung by malaria? You can’t work. Your productivity halts. Where will the money come now?

So, picture insurance as “hardship avoidance,” not “convenience” or “overnight returns.”

Most folks like to imagine insurance as that winning ticket that costs little but rings like the slot machine when all the cherries lines up (or you get hit by a truck). Wow… my leg’s broken. Now I get to collect $2M! But hey- that’s stupid thinking. Trade your leg for $2M??

So that’s the downer about insurance. Before you actually draw the cash, you’ll have to bleed a bit. Simply  get some furniture stolen from your home. Or mugged by a rapist. Or you fall into a manhole and die. Then you collect.

Looking at all this, you already begin to understand the fact that insurance is a MUST for life. The one great benefit of insurance arises from the minimization of hardship when folly sidewinds you when you least expect it.
