Watching Videos with Roxio Easy Media 10

Im a fitness freak and I love running on the treadmill. The problem is, jogging on a machine can get pretty tiresome staring at a wall or watching endless reruns of Friends on Fitness First’s cinema.  I raised the issue with a friend. He suggested that I watch select movies on my Ipod or my aging PSP. Hmm… I never even thought of that! That was a truly marvy idea considering that I already have over a thousand DVDs in my personal library. I may as well use them for gym motivation.

I went online hunting for the ideal DVD to Ipod converter

There was a lot! And good thing many were shareware, allowing me to trial each one.  I started first with Apollo’s iPod to video Converter but it kept hanging by the 30th minute of Spiderman 2.

Next was WinXmedia’s DVD to iPod Converter. This was another fast converter with an intuitive interface… but it kept crashing near the end of Spiderman. Hmmm. Was my disc bad? I tried another disc but the software hung at different segments. Perhaps it didn’t like 4 CPU cores? (I was running on a 2.5Ghz QuadCore unit.)

I ditched both and went for Videora. Nice. It completed till the end but the software didn’t perform good multithreading. Doing concurrent operations on Word and Excel slowed down even on my Quadcore.

So I went for what was the industry standard in Media: Roxio Easy Media 10. Now here’s a pricey solution, but wow… I have no complaints. DVDs were ripped in less than 15 minutes and barely impacted my concurrent operations! I then ripped four other DVDs while playing Sim City. hooo man. The City continued expanding while the DVD drive churned out perfect MP4s!! This software was a dream!

So for folks out there who like watching videos on your Ipod- I strongly recommend Roxio. It’s one heckuva software that’ll do conversions in no time flat- and still allow you to work on other stuff at the same time!
