That 100MB monster file, the Registry, is the heart and soul of any Windows system. This code bursts with information that controls how your Windows appears and how it runs.
Software use registry to consolidtae configuration and other important data. As you setup new apps, a registry entry will be created. This entry will automatically be deleted when you uninstall the application. Unfortunately, it does not always work that way. Sometimes, misbehaved applications fail to remove their own registry entries. This entry becomes obsolete and it theoretically gums up the system.
TweakNow addresses the problem of obliterating obsolete entries. Such entries are said to significantly increase the registry size and may slowdown the computer. It’s authors say that more entries translate into lengthier load times to search, and read data from registry.
I personally don’t find value in such software when installed on CoreDuos 1.0Ghz and faster. Slow downs on such might machines as a result of registry bloat is negligible. But for the anal among you, try Tweaknow

The Mac doesn’t have such software. Never did! I think the PCs neither require one… especially at today’s speeds
