No doubt about it. Vista is slow. Heaps slow.
A CoreDuo 1.8Ghz with 512MB of RAM and running on WINXP will run much faster than a CoreDuo 1.8Ghz with 1GB of RAM running on WinVista.
But I just found my savior!
You’ll want to look at SpeedyVista.com. The site is free and bristles with amazing tips that not even PCWorld.com offers (and PC World is my fave PC site!)
Take a sampling:
SHUT DOWN FASTER!
Shorten the time Windows waits for unresponsive tasks to close.
open the registry edit (start, run, regedit)
navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
set WaitToKillServiceTimeout=20000 (which sets it to 20 seconds)
Speedjunkies must visit this site NOW!
