I was a Rosetta Stone (rosettastone.com) loyalist since 2000. I taught myself Mandarin, Spanish and Italian. The system worked superbly. One week is all I need to understand Spanish Cable TV.

Rosetta no doubt beats most of the fly-by-night foreign language learning programs. Using video, audio and exercises, the software even taught me a bit of the accent.

I had just one gripe.

Each level of Rosetta Stone costs $300+ That means adequate mastery of a language runs into the thousands of dollars!
