It appears the Asus Eee PC faces more and more challengers these days. Among those after its head is Blue Digital’s Deep Blue H1. Should Asus be afraid? Definitely.
Unlike the Eee PC, this tiny PC boasts a 1.0GHz VIA Esther processor, partnered to a 7-inch 800 x 480 display, along with 1GB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive (very slim), and the LinPus Linux distro as the standard OS. Surprisingly, there’s a variant with Windows XP available as an option. I don’t recommend XP though. It’s soooo slow and takes 3x as long as LinPus to load and accomplish stuff like office work.
The Blue comes in basic black at the moment and retails at $400. I already bought one- and boy am I enjoying it more than my Presario 2.0Ghz Core2Duo. The Blue with its LinPus runs rings aroud my Presario with its bloatware Vista.
For the tech head, here’s the lowdown:

Have firefox, avg antivirus, yahoo messenger and adobe acrobat reader. perfect for office and school use. and the best of all its super handy and value for money.
i actually bought 1 yesterday, I purchsed it at the lowest price of PHP 9,800.00, still bundled w/ Linpus Linux OS, i have plans of changing that to Windows XP though, however i found the Linpus OS very intuitive so maybe i’ll give it a chance for a while. This baby rocks! hahaha!
I bought one last December 24, 2008. This netbook rocks and worth every penny than buying Asus, HP, or any UMPC/Netbook/sub-notebook above the 16,000 price range. it only cost me 11,500 and compared with HP which cost 25,000 and Asus 13,000 with only 4gb of storage.

Hi. Have you encountered problem of turning on your blue h1 after fully charging? My friend have this problem. she said it won’t turn on even if fully charged not unless she plugged the charger to the power source. It continue to turn on though even if charger is already unplugged. Is it really like this? Do you really need to plugged it first so it will turn on?
my only problem with this machine is that when I watch video on it, it’s too chopy. can anybody help me with this one?
hi mogster. been watching movies with my blue h1 but am not experiencing problems so far… try to install klm mega codec pack its very useful plus it uses a low resource player, but it really works.
yah. sorry, I mean, every time i watch videos in youtube. I cant watch it properly.
Hi! I bought my BLue H1 last December 18, 2008 and as of August 2009 I have problems with it’s LCD screen. It’s total blackout. It has power on its LED, it’s charging because it has still lights. But i can’t use it anymore. Time to drop by the megamall branch where i bought this piece of shit.
BLue H1 is not a good product. if you’ll buy a netbook don’t choose this one.
you’ll regret your 10K for this.
+ i was chatting on facebook when all of a sudden the monitor turn blackout.

My GF and I bought a Blue H1 last October 2008. She takes very good care of it, and always warns me to put it down softly even when I was going to place it on her bed! Anyway, this brand has a lot of harware problems, particularly the keyboard. For the past year, she encountered malfunctions (or no function whatsoever) of the keys. This has occurred multiple times. Then just as the warranty expires, the keyboards fail again! So be warned. Another friend of her’s also junked her Blue H1 less than a year from buying it. Your better of buying the more expensive brands than this piece of sh*t.
I bought my deep blue h1 laptop last march 2009 and until now, I didn’t encounter any problem.. it started with linux, then I switched to windows xp sp3 and now I upgraded it to windows 7 ultimate.. although my WEI (Windows experience index) score is 1.0, my blue h1 can still run the OS’s aero effects.. i love this “cutebook” very much. BTW, my antivirus is Microsoft Security Essentials which only runs on genuine microsoft OS.
still using my blue H1 up to now. the only problem i had is that the batteries are now busted. need to get it refurbished. but other than that, its still working as it should. connected it to an external monitor and really made all the difference. been doing my office and school work here. no complains with this umpc had it for 2 years now. sad that the entire line is now completely scrapped.
JC – on W7 – does camera work?
