Chinese Programmers Create Ubuntu that Looks Like XP

Tuesday 29 December 2009 @ 8:20 pm

It used be that Chinese Pirates merely bootlegged popular OSes like Windows XP, Vista and even Longhorn. Now they’re moving on. I read some reliable info on Download Squad that the pirates have now created a flavor of Ubuntu that looks and feels just like Windows XP!. Called Ylmf, this operating system deploys XP’s icons and even taskbar. What’s more, the Wine integration allows for Windows based programs to run. Then to attract those into bling, Ylmf supports Compiz effects and comes with a lot of pre-loaded freeware such as Firefox and OpenOffice.org. This Chinese group may not be doing Microsoft a favor, but they surely are doing a great service for end users like you and I. Packages like may tilt the balance in favor of open source software because ease of use is finally made available from the once arcane Linux/Unix based system.

MyMoneyFish – Is It Scam?

Saturday 26 December 2009 @ 5:56 am

It’s Christmas Day, and I saw the oddest email sitting in the inbox. body_h12Coming from some company called MyMoneyFish, the note invited me to invest in a business that costs $9.95 in exchange for $2000 minimum a  month.

Okay. That smelt hokey already. Like what they say, if it’s too good to be true, then it most likely is. Ah… the aroma of scam on the birth of Christ!

I visited the site anyway, not to join, but to gather arsenal to write a withering review.

The front page sure looked enticing:

mymoneyfishIf they sold drugs, that income would be viable. Otherwise, the only other alternative was pyramiding. Guess what I discovered?

Windows 7 Piledrived By 1TB Sata Disks

Friday 25 December 2009 @ 9:02 pm

Windows7  is amazing- but one major flaw just surfaced: it fails under the installation of 1TB SATA discs. For some Windows 7reason, the OS cannot handle that much information- and leads to critical errors. In such a case, end users might come across one of the Stop error message from the following: STOP 0×0000007A, STOP 0×00000077 or STOP 0×000000F4. Microsoft has identified the source of the problems and specifies a fix. The hotfix available for download through Microsoft Support is however, intended to resolve only the specific issue described above. Users not affected by this issue should not implement the hotfix, and wait for the first update from Microsoft that will contain it, most probably Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Magic of Making Up With Your Ex Review

Wednesday 23 December 2009 @ 1:24 am

I don’t know why most people who lose someone desperately try to get themmagic of making up back. Come on people. Sure- you were together for 5 years. But were those 5 years pure bliss? Might be better to move on. Picture yourselves having another 5 years together (of hell??!).

That’s my advice. If you break up, keep it broken.

Not everyone agrees with my opinion though. This fella believes that a second chance is always sweeter- and worth the effort. In fact, he believes in in getting back to the ex so much, that he developed a fool proof system of reviving old flames. And he calls it the Magic of Making Up. Now he makes megabucks off it. Does it work?

ICD Ultra Tablet: Smallest In The World!

Monday 21 December 2009 @ 6:43 pm

Want a PC tablet that’s almost not there? What about a sub 7 inch unit that packs in less pounds than a model withicdtabanorexic bulemia? The ICD Ultra tablet is surely one of the tiniestt tablets I’ve ever seen recently, as it boasts a 7-inch screen. But small doesn’t mean pathetic. This beauty sports a blistering NVIDIA Tegra T20 chip. That means games capability. If you dare.

This specific model uses a resistive display but ICD is planning to upgrade it with a capacitive display prior to actual launch on 2010. The company also promises an integrated 3G SIM to keep it persistently connected, which also means that there is a possibility that carriers AT&T or SingTel could subsidize it. The best part? A price tag of $249… which means even the Asus eeePC gets a run for the money!

Great Bargains at GovernmentAuctions.org

Friday 18 December 2009 @ 8:49 pm

Let’s face it. The economy sucks. The US dollar doesn’t command what it used to. Decades ago, the dollar could buy ahome-image2mosuper burger meal with all the garnishings. Today? You’d be lucky if it can get half a burger at all! The smart thing to do, therefore, is to grab things sold at auctions- particularly those by the government. When you purchase at government auctions, you do three great things:

1) You get foreclosed items at nearly 90% off

2) Your channel vital funding for the government

3) You have enough spending cash left over for other things

The problem is… where do you find these government auctions?

Hot Virtual Keyboard for Windows 7

Friday 18 December 2009 @ 1:47 am

This amazing app deserves the appellation  Hot Virtual Keyboard because it gives more than  an on-screen keyboard.

Xbox360 Arcade Edition: Zero Overheats

Wednesday 16 December 2009 @ 1:22 am

One thing about the ole Xboxe360 is that they overheat. A lot. Play them beyond 4 hours and there’s a strong chance they’ll blink red and go kaput. Repairs should cost almost $100 for the steamed-up chip! It’s for this reason that most folks buy cooling fans and play their units in an airconditioned room. Too bad for the afficionados in Africa or Indonesia. Their Xboxes are just begging to kick the bucket!

Microsoft must have heard of all the griping that a few months ago they released the Xbox360 which addressed the overheat problem. Since I lost two Xboxes to overheat I decided to try the new offering… and today I’m enthused to write that the upgrade was well worth it.

The Arcade edition I own is almost 4 months old and I play it about 6 to 12 hours a day. Sometimes 6 hours straight when business is slow. Know what?xbox360gamer It’s still kicking! And that’s to think I didn’t install any cooling fans.

Thank God for this! If you haven’t already, buy the Xbox Arcade edition and sell your old stuff at ebay. You’ll never have problems again!

PowerBalance Bracelets: Surprisingly It Works!

Wednesday 9 December 2009 @ 8:06 am

The past years saw a parade of body enhancing  jewelry. One of the mostPowerBalance Bands popular was the qlink which promised greater focus, endurance and longevity. Costing $149, this item didn’t deliver. I had both SRT2 and SRT3 models and ran them through their paces. Neither proved effective. No energy boost. I felt tired often. And my muscular power didn’t help me win arm wrestling matches

Then came the Qray with the same promises. And the Megachi. SAME BANANA: high prices, low delivery.

I began to wonder if most of the health products out there were scams.

Is It Bullshit: Paidsurveysetc.com

Tuesday 8 December 2009 @ 4:59 am

Now, what if you don’t have the guts to run an online business? Perhaps working for others AT HOME is more your speed. If that’s your piece of cake, check out Paidsurveysetc. I have few relatives making money off this method. Right now, one of my nieces resigned her dayjob just to do this. She’s made $1293 last month on just this alone. Not bad for those folks who like working in pajamas.

Sunday 6 December 2009 @ 6:23 pm

I’ve been a loyalist of Eset’s Antivirus Protection for years. Not a single machine with Eset ever got infected. On the other hand, laptops that had AVG or Norton often ended up with a few infections. Now, my fave antivirus got better, with the introduction of Eset Smart Security 4!

In sum, ESET Smart Security 4 is an complete security suite that offers protection against viruses, Trojan, malware, spyware and online threats. With it, you need no other add ons. Ever.
