Olay Total Effects Review

Olay, that brand grandmothers just seemed to love, is taking the market by storm. P&G recently overhauled their aging flagship cosmetic product and came up with something looking this cool:

Olay Total Effects

And check out the promises:

The power of 7 vitamins and minerals that fights 7 signs of aging.

Total Effects 7X Visible Anti-Aging Vitamin Complex has more power to fight 7 signs of aging. Infused with 7 vitamins and minerals – vitamin C, zinc, titanium, magnesium and VitaNiacin, an exclusive formulation of vitamin B3 (a niacin derivative), vitamin E and pro-vitamin B5.

Total Effects 7X Visible Anti-Aging Vitamin Complex:

Diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Smoothes skin texture – visibly and to the touch.
Evens skin tone for younger looking, more balanced color.
Improves surface dullness, giving skin a radiant, healthy glow.
Minimizes the appearance of pores.
Visibly reduces the appearance of blotches and age spots.
Soothes dry skin, hydrating with Olay moisture.

On account of the advertising blitz alone, I decided to try good ole granny’s brand.

I got my first bottle 2 weeks ago off Walmart.

Delightful little packaging.

I ripped it open very carefully.

As with other cosmetic offerings, even the bottle itself looked appealing. It was a lengthy tube and on first glance, I thought “hey this will last me a long time!”

I was wrong. It turned out that the tube was filled to only 1/4 of it’s length and the marketers hid this fact well by making the tube opaque. How disappointing for a $20 bottle of cream.

But i’m sure you want to know how well it worked as a reverse ager. After all, that’s why you’re reading this article!

Let me give you the real score: It flops!

Any $5 moisturizer provides exactly the same benefits. I used the stuff for 1 month (that’s how long $20 lasts with one application a day) and my face remained the same. Fine lines didn’t disappear. Elasticity did not improve, nor did smoothness. In fact, the cheaper offerings by Ponds or Loreal lets me feel more refreshed far longer.

Olay Total Effects is an expensive failure. What say you?

When first used it burnt my skin.
Shame, I had used this product in the past, in the old packaging with the light scent, when it was called Oil of Ulan.
Now it is Olay and I choose to no longer lay it on my skin !
    Serioulsy disappointed.

I used it for the first time yesterday and have to admit it gave me a clearer complexion than my expensive foundation does. My skin looked even toned and had a glow about it. I have combo skin and was skeptical about apllying it but when I read reviews about it containing niacinamide I thought to give it a try. Will ppop back in a month to let you know how I feel then. So far so good.
