Everyone one loves Partition Magic. It’s the industry standard and does the job well. There’s just one downside. The cost. Many would therefore welcome this  alternative, EASEUS Partition Manager which is a comprehensive hard disk partition management software for Windows 2000/2003 Server and Windows 2000/XP/Vista. It’s a superb tool that does a whole slew:  Partition,   Resize and Move, Create, Delete and Format, Hide and Unhide server, Non Server partitions and much more.

In my opinion, EASEUS Partition Manager has left Partition Magic behind.  You can create, delete, format partitions on your hard disk easily even without reading a manual. Operation is intuitive and pretty much idiot proof. For one thing,  it can even resize/move your partitions by using the free spaces without destroying data. Partition Magic lacks this capability.

The app also wins on Flexibility .  Easeus is designed to work with any type of Windows file system, from FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 to NTFS, but control over disks hits a ceiling at 1TB.  Right now, the largest disk appears to be at 1TB. The company should consider this in the next upgrade.  On a bright note, Easeus Partition Manager Server juggles up to 32 hard disks, which makes viable option for those server farms.

Running the software takes next to no effort. Even a novice at MS Office will understand the menus and hit the right operation in seconds. . You can easily resize drives  according to the unallocated space available near them. In order to attain a new size, all that is needed to do is either drag it from one side of the drive map or, if a more accurate size is needed, you can input the value in MB yourself.

Oh and here’s the crowning jewel. Users can migrate  a partition someplace else on the physical disk so that you can distribute the unallocated space to other drives as well! This is ultimate in partition management.

And finally, the software offers options for those paranoid for security . Visit the  Advanced section of the application and run a bad sector test to see if everything is peachy keen. You can check for errors on disk and fix them after. This menu also gives empowers the user to change a drive letter.

In sum, I’d be trembling in my boots if I were Partition Magic CEO right now. Here’s a nimble competitor offering quite a deal that even non-geeks would appreciate. Have you already explored its power in your PC?
