For Chat Addicts: Trillian 3.1.11.0

Chat addict? Meebo now gets a run for the money with an upstart barging down it’s door. Welcome Trillian!

So what is it? Trillian is a multi-network chat client that currently supports IRC, AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo! Messenger.  Trillian  supports all of the features you’ve come to expect from a good IM client, including but not limited to docking, multi-line edit boxes, buddy alerts, multiple connections to the same medium, a powerful skinning language, easy importing of your existing contacts, skinnable emoticons, logging, “global” away/invisible features, and a unified contact list. It is completely free with no nag screens or built-in ads.

It’s a download, unlike the Meebo thang so those who are always on the go and frequent users of internet cafes may not be too happy. However for lappy huggers, this is a steal.

eBuddy (www.ebuddy.com) is another IM aggregator and has nearly the same traffic as meebo. Plus, it doesn’t lock you to a PC – they have a major mobile application (J2ME and a mobile internet browser (WAP) version) that supports over 650 different mobile devices. Plus, it’s got all the emoticons and all the other things you expect from a good IM client including vibration mode and the ability to see who’s contacted you and they’re messages when you’re offline
