Windows 7: Hacked Even Before Launch!

Monday 2 November 2009 @ 10:48 pm

Windows 7 is touted as fastest and the most secure windows ever. I believewinz7xpthe fast part. Windows 7 definitely trumps Windows XP and Windows Vista in all speed tests.

But secure? I doubt that. Even barely before the launch of the operating system, there already exists Win7 activation toolkits. This time it’s combined two hacker’s exploits (Orbit30 And Hazar’s) into one crack. Run the cracks and presto! Windows 7 is activated and considered genuine for life.

The cracks in particular work Windows 7 RTM Ultimate- the most expensive version of Windows. It had been tested as working on both x86 and x64. And amazingly, the cracks also works in Virtual Environment. Continue Reading »

Clear Up That Hardisc with WindirStat

Sunday 25 October 2009 @ 7:04 pm

Toolbox30_smHardiscs now go up to Terrabytes. That’s a lot of space! While it’s a boon because now you can save every dirty photo downloaded, you must now have to manage tons of data. Fail at that and finding what you need can be testy. Imagine having to look for Mandy’s pic at the height of your need? And you can’t? You must prune that disc and keep it tidy. That’s where WinDirStat comes in.

So, have  you ever catalogued a folder by file size, praying to track down a data hog, only to be vexed by the fact that Windows 7 doesn’t let you see the size of nested folders’ contents? Right. So have we, and that’s why we make sure that we’ve always got WinDirStat on standby. Continue Reading »

Enjoy Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 for FREE

Wednesday 5 August 2009 @ 9:57 pm

Everyone knows Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 , that cool tweaking and optimizing software for Windows operating winoptimizer5system. For me, it’s better than most slow optimizers like Registry Mechanic or Norton System Works. Win Optimizer  easily provides clean, optimized and tuned up functions to ensure maximum PC performance. And it does all this without slowing down the PC.
The Suite is comprehensive.  WinOptimizer  integrates  cleaning tools which like Registry Cleaner for drives optimization, Internet Cleaner used for cleaning cache, cookies and history; tuning tools which include StartUp Tuner which helps users to edit auto start entries, view and deactivate unnecessary Windows services and edit a list of installed software; file tools that able to generate disk space reports, delete files permanently, encrypt and decrypt files; and tweaking tools that provide modules for generating system configuration reports, reallocating file types, tweaking system settings or defragmenting hard drives. Furthermore, the software also feature one-click optimization function which be able to measure system performance, deactivate annoying auto start entries, or delete unnecessary files. All this is done in a single keystroke. Talk about babysitting the lazy!

For me the software is indispensable, but the registration price of $40 may put off many. But did you know you can get a license for free? Continue Reading »

80286 Anyone?

Saturday 16 May 2009 @ 11:02 am

Last night I ran into my eccentric buddy. He’s the kinda guy who likes collecting useless things such as stamps, snail shells and buffalo teeth. I didn’t think he could get weirder than that until I realized he was setting up a home network based on 80286 processors.  No kidding. He had five of these babies hooked up with old school parallel cables. Or were they serial cables?! I asked him why. His response? Just because he can.

Geez.

Anyway, for the rest of you who wants to embark in the same useless endeavor, there’s a site that supplies goodies from the years of yore… things like 8088 processors and even tweaked 386DX chips.  Fittingly, the site is called Weird Stuff.

Weird.

TweakNow RegCleaner Flushes out Your Pipes

Monday 27 April 2009 @ 8:37 am

That 100MB monster file, the Registry, is the heart and soul of any Windows system. This code bursts with information that controls how your Windows appears and how it runs.

Software use registry to consolidtae configuration and other important data. As you setup new apps, a registry entry will be created. This entry will automatically be deleted when you uninstall the application. Unfortunately, it does not always work that way. Sometimes, misbehaved applications fail to remove their own registry entries. This entry becomes obsolete and it theoretically gums up the system. Continue Reading »
