Got low cash? Don’t let fund scarcity compromise your security! Avira AntiVir Personal 9.0 is free anti-virus software for Windows XP and higher with a slick interface and stellar protection against spyware, phishing, trojans, malware and rootkits.

While a few review sites complain that AntiVir suffers major problems with its update server, I find this not the case. Downloading the virus signature library updates is speedy and integration takes a few minutes.

Dumbos need not despair.GUI is excellent and fool proof. The primary window displays the state of AntiVir Guard, a persistent anti-virus engine that constantly monitors your system, simultaneously with the dates of your last scan and update. Easily commence a scan from here. Next to the Status display in the main Overview tab are the Events and Reports tabs, which provide a simple interface to view and export the program’s log files. Down the right-hand menu bar, you’ll find the Local Protection tab, with its Scanner and Guard sub-menus. Here you can scan specific files or directories and get details about recently detected threats.

For those who like nit and grit, there is an Administration tab that provides access to quarantined files and the scan scheduler. You can also dig up an advanced Configuration menu nestled next to a text link here, which empowers you to alter the behaviour of the scanner and guard by instructing them to scan archive files or to scan files only with specific extensions.

Free usually means lack of features. By opting to pass up on payment and registration you forgo on browser or drive-by download protection. A few bits of malware got by Avira through the web browser, but thankfully got neutralized when run off the PC. But no sweat. Merely installing the popular antimalware Threatfire that relies on heuristics, you plug the hole. In fact, combining the freeware Avira and freeware Threatfire gives you more protection than a purchased suite from Norton!

Grab Avira Now!

Let’s face it. The economy sucks. The US dollar doesn’t command what it used to. Decades ago, the dollar could buy asuper burger meal with all the garnishings. Today? You’d be lucky if it can get half a burger at all! The smart thing to do, therefore, is to grab things sold at auctions- particularly those by the government. When you purchase at government auctions, you do three great things:

1) You get foreclosed items at nearly 90% off

2) Your channel vital funding for the government

3) You have enough spending cash left over for other things

The problem is… where do you find these government auctions?

Don’t sweat it. A government topdog decided to make it easy for you. Using the power of the web, US officials consolidated up to date listing of all government auctions near you. You can search for specific items or by location to find what you need and want. Personally, I think this service is a boon!

Want to start saving? Look into GovernmentAuctions. You’ll save a mint and get your government humming again.

The past years saw a parade of body enhancing jewelry. One of the most popular was the qlink which promised greater focus, endurance and longevity. Costing $149, this item didn’t deliver. I had both SRT2 and SRT3 models and ran them through their paces. Neither proved effective. No energy boost. I felt tired often. And my muscular power didn’t help me win arm wrestling matches

Then came the Qray with the same promises. And the Megachi. SAME BANANA: high prices, low delivery.

I began to wonder if most of the health products out there were scams.

Then today I noticed all my golfing buddies were sporting black rubber bracelets that had a silver disc. Looked funky. Kinda cheesy. That raised my curiosity. I asked what it was and they claimed that the $19 things protected the body from stress and increased energy.

Ah. My scam bells started ringing.

My incredulity must have been obvious because they started defending the dang thing like crazy. I just smiled as they explained how it worked. Whatever they said went out the other ear.

Then one of them offered me a challenge. An arm wrestling to be exact. Now understand that since kids, we we had strength of comparable levels. Neither of us ever really won the contest. Ties were always the outcome.

So I expected the same.

But woah… he handily beat me. He offered a second chance.

Beat me again.

Then he told me to wear the bands. With a smirk, I donned it and tried again. This time I slammed his fist to the ground (but slowly).

“YOU LET ME WIN!” I growled.

My friend just smiled and went at again. This time using both arms against me.

I still beat him.

Oh.

I looked at the bracelets in wonder.

Looks like there’s something to these Power Balance Bands. I distinctly felt something different. A rush maybe? Stability?

Looks like I’m gonna get myself a set and fully evaluate them!

What do you think?

Check it out for yourself www.powerbalance.net

Many people run blogs which earn primarily from adsense. In order that these sites earn, content is necessary. Therein lies the problem. How easy is it to write content? Unlike myself, I’m sure many of you find a dental trip more pleasurable. So there are other less painful alternatives]

1) You can hire a writer and dent your pocket

2) You can copy free articles from websites like ezinearticles and paste them on your site.

The latter won’t cost, but it brings its own problem: the duplicate content penalty. Google hates dupe content. Have a lot of these and your site won’t rank well. So what’s the work-around? Re write the articles! But that brings us back to our first problem. Writing! You just don’t want to write. You want it automatic.

A company offers a solution. The remedy is an automatic article rewriter. The system works simply: simply input the data in a box and the software uses a thesaurus to change words and phrases, creating multiple versions of the same article. Once the conversion is complete, the webmaster can upload them to the site and dominate google for those specific keywords.

Sounds good? Maybe. An Article Rewwriter may defeat google’s search engine, but they churn out total junk. I purchased an Article Rewriter and ran it on my old notes. What came out looked like something a drunk monkey would write as it hung from a steaming cauldron.

If you write for actual readers, avoid Article Rewriters. They won’t help. But if you right spam blogs, then these junk tools may have some utility.

Check out one example of an article rewriter here.

Playing with colors, vibrance, hue saturation upon photographs can be exhilarating. If executed properly, it can also output some delightful, creative pictures. Akvis MultiBrush ($49 ) allows barebones image painting functions that offers some nice tools. Nonetheless they are limited and demand dexterity to be able to use them.

I downloaded the trial version of Akvis MultiBrush and discovered that its limited occasionally trying group of tools for painting on your photographs can match somewhat the features offered by Adobe Photoshop. MultiBrush’s GUI is clean and straightforward. Along the ribbon are a handful of icons for opening or saving a file, printing, Undo or Redo; to the right, you’ll find links to the online help and preferences. There’s the basic toolbox to the left of the image window which grants access to the core group of painting tools, such as: Color Brush/Color Pencil, Eraser, History Brush, Clone Stamp, Chameleon Brush, Sharpen/Blur, Lighten/Darken/Saturation, and so forth. I found myself drawn to the Chameleon Brush which clones the luminosity of a source image onto a destination background, applying the tones to create some interesting ghostly or otherwise artistic effects. Then there’s your usual History Palette that keeps track of your modifications, for rapid mastery over Undos. Take note that the history tool doesn’t really exploit this palette; rather, it is a selective Undo, restoring the area brushes to the original form.

What I didn’t like is that brush options don’t offer much. There’s a lack Selection or Masking tools so you can’t do the fancy glows, pastes and edits easily accomplished in Photoshop. Plus You need great hand/eye coordination to place precise brush strokes, for decent creation.

MultiBrush comes as a plug-in for Photoshop-compatible programs, for the same low price of $49. Alternatively you avail both the plug-in and standalone editions for $69. While the MultiBrush standalone opens and saves JPEG, BMP, PNG and TIF files, the plug-in will support files native to the host program .

Is Akvis MultiBrush worthwhile? That depends. How steady is your hand? If your hand quakes, this software is next to useless. It may also prove to be feature sparse for the intermediate designer. But for those on a budget who can’t fork over $300 for Photoshop , it can be a deal.

Did you love Independence Day? If so, you’re in for a real treat. 2012 makes Independence Day glimmer like weakfireworks. Disaster movie maven Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) forges this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller through the eyes of an academic researcher who blasts wide a doorway into a parallel dimension, making contact with his etheric alterego in a desperate bid to halt the end time prophecies of the ancient Mayan calendar . According to the Mayan calendar, the world meets a doomsday on December 21, 2012. When a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) delves deep into his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to ensure that the human race is not completely wiped.

Check out the trailer before you read my review:

I cheated. I saw this movie a month before release because my friend had access to a review copy, and I can tell you this: this film boasts one helluva intelligent plot supported by the most amazing cinematography. When you’re not breathless watching an entire tectonic plate sink, you’re weeping at the human drama unfolding. The actors are so good that you can read their emotions without them uttering a single word.

It’s tough to rain enough praise on this hilarious, spellbinding movie. To describe “2012″ is to make it appear as any other end-of-the-world disaster epic you’ve ever seen. But guess what? It is. This masterpiece is an Emmerich film much like his others – “Independence Day” and “The Day After Tomorrow” – about an epic, global catastrophe that unfolds …

Halt. You already know how it starts: within a dingy cubicle, a scientist looks at a computer screen and mutters the famous … “My God!”

Okay okay. Sounds familiar? Yeah, you may have seen this before, and yet you haven’t, not quite like this. It’s a bit formula, but far beyond it. And this is a scripted formula to the perfection of what makes the type of movie people will consider ‘cult’ for decades to come. I kid you not- people will say 2012 in the same breath they do Citizen Kane or Sound of Music. It’s that good. In “2012,” Emmerich gives you everything you expect, but gives it to you bigger.

Picture a car hurtling through a neighborhood in Pasadena as boulevards and the tenements behind it plummet to the bowels of the Earth. Picture a plane leaping off on a disappearing runway – and dodging amidst collapsing buildings and a thrashing train. Witness massive tidal waves taking coastal cities by storm and erasing (you guessed it) the Statue of Liberty. But stop right there. Everything in the movie is ten times as grand as that you just vainly tried to imagine.

I know you’re itching to see that movie. If you don’t have time to hit the cinemas right now, check it at this cool site where legal movie downloads are available:

Movies Capital

Have a blast watching 2012!

Most of you online marketers know who John Chow, Shoemoney and Yaro Stark are. These are probloggers. Thegreatest of the great. By merely blogging, they earn per month what the IBM executive vice president makes in a year. Imagine how cool it would be to know exactly how they’re doing it. What would you give to peek into their minds?

Wish granted. One of these greats revealed all. Or at least, he claims to expose his entire method. Check out Blog Mastermind where blogging great Yaro Stark offers interested novice bloggers to formula to blogging success. It’s quite an eye opener!

At the site, Yaro published a free lesson from the course, lesson 11 as a promotional tool. Once I signed up, I found that he offered 27 lessons. I intended to finish all 27 lessons in two days, but poor me… the mode of delivery is staggered. This is a paid membership site and not a course that is delivered in its entirety once purchased. The lessons arrive via email and they come weekly. At the rate they come in, you’ll reach the final lesson by the sixth month. Bummer.

So was it worth it, despite the forced time lag imposed in the Blog Mastermind system? This is my review.

1. Core Curriculum: The method is set up in bite sized lessons arriving via email in logical order. The lessons provide very ample detail and each one is sent a week apart. The lessons are not mere pdf. They include audio and video which makes it highly useful to total newbies to the blogging world. But even if you were an intermediate blogger, there are pointers you can pick up that can turbocharge your online income. Personally I found some good tweaks that can even be implemented in this blog network. Management was very happy I presented the ideas. My only grimace? The fact that the lessons are spaced apart. I believe everything should have been delivered at once!

2. The password protected resources include:

Bonus interviews
10 audios that focus on the mindset of blogging and establishing online businesses
Case studies You actually submit your blog to Yaro and other members for feedback. This is priceless!
Question and Answer audios that are taking from questions that are deemed important from the forum
and a few additional resources.

3. Community Center: It’s almost as active as DigitalPoint! The exchanges here can take you far beyond the coverage of the lessons!.

Bottomline:

Yaro proposes some truly unique ideas not found in the conventional blogging industry. He teaches how to monetize a blog from several perspectives and provides a special secret sauce to make sure the drive is sustainable- even once you stop blogging actively. Few other products could match up to the Blog Mastermind’s potential for wealth building.

If you are after creating an empire online, I recommend the Blog Mastermind coupled with Affiliate X. Combining both methods easily leads to a potential revenue of $10,000 a month

I read the other day that many worms, viruses and trojans tend to exploit to the OS system itself but vulnerabilities in applications. Take Excel for example. A malevolent script propagates via excel macros, which then proceed to corrupt a hug amount of data. To safeguard against this, you need to regularly update your applications. That can be a doozy doing manually considering we have at least 20 applications on a PC. Imagine every application an open window to attack. Your Vista or XP may be well patched (the front door)… but what about these apps?I tried one good solution in the form of Secunia. It’s a free application that does an indepth analysis of installed software, available updates and vulnerabilities. Just one click. Whoosh, you get a list of potential intrusion vulnerabilities.

If you share your PC, this is one heckuva indispensable program. You don’t have to know what your compadres had installed recently (every additional software opens new holes), you just have to run Secunia. In seconds, you’ll know what to patch and keep yourself protected.

If you haven’t already, I strongly urge you keep it in your arsenal.

Download it here
