I’m annoyed how the phone companies charge me megabucks per minute when I call overseas to blokes in Ireland or Canada. What they charge me could eventually buy me a new Iphone in just a few weeks of calls. Hence I started using YM or Skype to regularly keep in touch. The problem is- not everyon’e glued to a PC at the time I want to make a call. Sigh.
Then Bert told me about VOIP. For someone fond of bloggin’, I must have been a dinosaur to have heard about all its features just now- and fully utilized it!
Okay, for the uninitiated, VOIP is an internet phone service based on a the latest technology - Voice over Internet Protocol(VoIP). With a simple VoIP adapter that you connect to your home or office network, you convert voice traffic into digital data for transmission over the Internet. This adapter connects any regular phone and accomplish calls as usual. Reaching anyone in the world is possible via regular phones - minus the bloodcurling long distance phone call rates that phone companies normally charge.
Im currently looking at Brama Telecom’s VOIP offerings as per Bert’s suggestion. Their unlimited long distance calling plans look positively enticing.
Anyone tried their service before?
