This is something I’ve been meaning to write, but the article kept sneaking into my backburner. Oh well- better late than never.
Sometime last quarter, I purchased and installed AutoSocialPosterPro on this website on the strength of glowing reviews I garnered off some forums. This wordpress plugin promised something pretty: every post made is automatically bookmarked on numerous Web 2.0 sites like digg, technorati, etc. Bookmarking creates link popularity and drives real traffic. This translates to fat revenues!
On that score, I can say that the software did deliver. Posts on my blog appeared in 80% of the web 2.0 engines managed by the plugin. Just one hitch. A dire one. All posts aided by this plugin ended up castrated truncated. Meaning, posts that were broken into segments using the <-more-> commanded ended up halved- with the second half totally purged from the database.
The problem struck me as possibly server related, so I tested the same code on a blog running on another webhost. Same problem. Looks like bugs in the $$$ software!
I ditched the program.
For prospective buyers of this software, I recommend test running it on a non-critical blog prior to installing it on your main money maker. You’ve been warned.
