Back in the old days of Age of Empires I, we used to gather around 21 inch CRT monitors and duke it out
with lances and arrows. How glorious it was to relish GeForce4 graphics on monster monitors! That was also the time that early LCD monitors made an appearance. No gamer, however would touch those things. The first LCD monitors were slow and suffered ghosting and artifacts. Games simply didn’t play well back then.
Today, however, is a different story. Big name brands like Samsung, Acer and ViewSonic have released high performace LCDs for gaming. With LCD technology’s latest vivid color engines, amazing aspect ratios and hyperfast speeds, the most rabid gamer could throw the meanest game at his console and still enjoy crystalline quality. I personally tried the latest iterations of Halo and Resident Evil on a Quadcore connected to a Samsung and simply couldn’t get over the photorealism. Top notch!
If you’re still stuck with CRTs, I suggest you change now. CRTs no longer have the picture edge it used to over LCDs. Today’s LCDs are just as good and afford zero strain on the eyes. Try playing on CRT for an hour. Your eyes would swim.
So which LCD should you purchase. Check out this site that reviews LCDs for gaming. Not only do they list top tier devices, they also publish the votes of buyers like you and me.
Go- get game!
