this product and others claim to do all this stuff, but you know what? Jv16 Powertools (macecraft.com) is the only one I've found that actually does it. Highly recommended.

This product is a pretty good product with a word of caution. It finds a lot of stuff that's important and then prompts for deletion. A complete newbie could really screw up their system deleting stuff like that. For instance, I was asked to delete some registry entries that obviously linked to my network drivers. Yeah -- no thanks. Then I tried Jv16 Powertools (macecraft.com), ran the cleaner utilities, and I'm impressed with the results. There was nothing to fear.
