Try Aero Shake Without Windows 7

Friday 28 August 2009 @ 5:17 am

One of Windows 7’s much touted feature is the Aero Shake- something I bet their Engineers took inspiration from the MacOS. Aero-Shake allows the user to grasp a foreground window, shake it vigorously with the mouse and thereby zap all other background windows out of sight.  It makes for good eyecandy. Computing also gets to be more intuitive. But did you know you can have Aero shake even without Windows 7?

Try out the feature with the third party aero shake app.  It’s rough around the edges but does the job well. There’s no performance hit either.

Windows 7- Speed of XP, Security of Vista

Sunday 23 August 2009 @ 6:39 pm

The free windows 7 ride is finally over. No trial download anymore. I’m glad I got to trial the most recent release candidate. In a sentence, I can describe my experience with Windows 7 this way:

Windows 7 has the speed of XP Home and the iron clad security of Vista.

In other words, it’s the closest Microsoft will ever get to the Apple OS (Leopard).

Am I buying? Definitely. Will I upgrade my existing Vista? YOU BET!

Finally. Microsoft did it.

How To Blog With Ease on Iphone

Thursday 20 August 2009 @ 6:50 pm

Are you into audio blogging? You’ve got a treat. Ipadio’s new iPhone app, in the App Store now, gives users the choice between recording stellar audio for publication later or streaming their message  real time to the web – using www.ipadio.com or via their own web site.

Now, iPhone users can opt to live stream audio to  their web site or pre-record up to an hour of audio and upload it later. Callers also choose to run SpinVox voice to text conversion to produce title, tags and a transcript, as well as most stuff  you’d expect including sending photos from the phone, GPSing the call and rapidly integrating with social media (Myspace, Twitter, Facebook) and popular blogging platforms.  Imagine reaching out to listeners who can subscribe to each “channel” as a podcast in iTunes, within an ipadio account, via RSS or even old fashioned email. IPod Touch users can of course record and publish via ipadio.

On uploading a call, users have the option to leave their title, tags and description to SpinVox, or to type these manually. In practice, most callers are running a quick test and then leaving things to SpinVox, as the results are great. If the odd word is missed, it’s easy to edit the text either in the iPhone app or through an account on ipadio.com.

In my opinion, this is a boon for service oriented companies who want to give things the personal touch. People can know the latest with the company (like promos and discounts) as well as pick up on tips and tricks for after market service. Continue Reading »

Top 3 Really Dumb Iphone Apps

Thursday 13 August 2009 @ 7:56 pm
When it comes to applications, the iPhone has it all. Want to control your TV? There’s an app for that. Want to find the nearest Chinese restaurant? There’s an app for that. Want to record your bowel habits and share them with your friends? Yep, there’s an app for that, too. A program called Poop the World somehow squeezed its way into Apple’s iPhone App Store this month. For $1.99, the app combines the iPhone’s GPS power with your own notes to create a public diary of your private business.
Dumb? Sure. Pointless? Of course. But surprising? Not at all. I hate to be a party pooper, but let’s face it: Crappy apps are becoming commonplace on the iPhone. For every Pandora or Remote, there’s a Poop the World or a Pull My Finger lurking right around the corner.

It used to be that the Palm Pilot had the most downloadable apps.  Now, it’s different. Palm is dead and the iPhoneiphoneapps2reigns supreme. When it comes to applications, the iPhone has it all. Even the Windows Mobile phones can’t compete. Don’t believe me? Check out the Apple Store. Or Cydia. Or Installer

Want to control yourDVD? There’s an app for that. Want to find the nearest German bistro? There’s an app for that. Want to record your nosepicking  habits and post them on facebook? Yep, there’s an app for that, too. There’s even a shit program called Poop the World that pooped  its way into Apple’s iPhone App Store. For a dollar, the app combines the iPhone’s GPS power with your own notes to create a public diary of your private business. How sick is that??!

Insane? Def. Pointless? Of course. But delightful? For some sickos- yeah!. I hate to be a party pooper, but let’s face it: Shit apps are becoming commonplace on the iPhone. Wanna know which iphone apps really burp this month? Check it out! Continue Reading »

Enjoy Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 for FREE

Wednesday 5 August 2009 @ 9:57 pm

Everyone knows Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 , that cool tweaking and optimizing software for Windows operating winoptimizer5system. For me, it’s better than most slow optimizers like Registry Mechanic or Norton System Works. Win Optimizer  easily provides clean, optimized and tuned up functions to ensure maximum PC performance. And it does all this without slowing down the PC.
The Suite is comprehensive.  WinOptimizer  integrates  cleaning tools which like Registry Cleaner for drives optimization, Internet Cleaner used for cleaning cache, cookies and history; tuning tools which include StartUp Tuner which helps users to edit auto start entries, view and deactivate unnecessary Windows services and edit a list of installed software; file tools that able to generate disk space reports, delete files permanently, encrypt and decrypt files; and tweaking tools that provide modules for generating system configuration reports, reallocating file types, tweaking system settings or defragmenting hard drives. Furthermore, the software also feature one-click optimization function which be able to measure system performance, deactivate annoying auto start entries, or delete unnecessary files. All this is done in a single keystroke. Talk about babysitting the lazy!

For me the software is indispensable, but the registration price of $40 may put off many. But did you know you can get a license for free? Continue Reading »

My Simple Golf Swing Dropped 12 Strokes In a Month

Monday 3 August 2009 @ 2:55 am

When I’m not blogging, watching movies or out partying, I’m at the fairways. Golf is my passion- and have mercy on anyone who separates me from my irons.

I spend almost 25 hours a week slicing up the greens and a great deal of my income has gone to collecting all manner or putters. I got stuff from Apex to Callaway. They’re my prized collection.

I used to believe that with high end equipment, I can hit my target with more precision. That was what started my passion to collecting equipment. But later on, I discovered that it was technique, and not irons that gave magic to the average duffer. (like back when I was in Badminton- I purchased the most kickass Yonex Nanospeeds thinking they’d help). $10,000 later, I stopped buying golf irons to improve my game; I bought them simply because they looked good in my cabinet.
