A few days back, I reviewed Zoho, my all time favorite online office suite. I got responses. Lots. People love Zoho but wonder about the competition. Are there any? You bet there are!
Scour the web for free online word processors and you’ll find at least five. These may not kick out MS Office for many of us, but they can be fascinating to experiment with and delightful for the innovative. Here are the free offerings that I find most feature filled and easy to use
1. AjaxWrite
AjaxWrite is the latest of the free online word processors. Ajax may not most boast the most features but it is the easiest to understand. It’s objective is to emulate MS Word in a multi-platform and agile online solution. AjaxWrite is brainchild of Internet visionary Michael Robertson the founder of Linspire, MP3.com and numerous enterprises.
2. ThinkFree
Like Zoho, Thinkfree boasts a stout word processor bundled with a free online spreadsheet and a free online presentation program. ThinkFree affords over 30 megabytes of online storage for documents. Thinkfree runs on a Java core, so many of the interactive features are executed on your local machine. For the average bloke, this client server model proferrs the top notch performance and functionality.
3. Writely
Writely was purchased by Google and we all know that Google’s touch turns things to gold. I got to demo it via an invite and find the features a bit on the sparse side for now- but hey, we know what google does! They take any product and makes sure its core competency is unparalleled. Few can challege G’s search engine at what it does. In no time, writely may be the dominant online suite as well.
